Quick answer

Your age is the number of complete years that have passed since your date of birth, plus the leftover months and days. Subtract the birth date from today one column at a time, borrowing from the column to the left whenever a number goes negative. Someone born on 15 June 1990 is 36 years, 1 month and 9 days old on 24 July 2026, which is 13,188 days, 316,512 hours or 1,139,443,200 seconds.

years = 2026 − 1990 = 36 months = 7 − 6 = 1 days = 24 − 15 = 9 → 36 y 1 m 9 d

What an age calculator does

An age calculator takes two dates, a date of birth and a date you want the age measured at, and reports the gap between them in the way people actually talk about age: whole years first, then whole months, then leftover days. It then restates that same gap in units that are easier to compare, such as total months, total weeks, total days, total hours and total minutes.

That sounds trivial until you try it by hand. Months are not a fixed length. Years are not a fixed length either, because roughly one in four contains an extra day. A person born on 31 January has no anniversary at all in most Februaries. And more than one culture has a completely different rule for when a year gets added to your count. Every one of those wrinkles changes the answer, which is why two age calculators can look at the same birth date and print different numbers.

The calculator above defaults the "age at" field to today so that the common question, "how old am I right now", answers itself. Change that field and it becomes a general-purpose tool: how old will I be at my wedding, how old was my grandfather when this photograph was taken, how many days separate two siblings. If you only care about the raw gap between two dates without the year and month breakdown, the Date Calculator gives you the same span expressed purely in days, weeks and business days.

The rest of this page explains the arithmetic in full, sets out the four or five places where reasonable implementations disagree, and gives reference tables you can check your own numbers against. Everything is computed as of 24 July 2026, which is a Friday.

Getting started

How to calculate your age in four steps

The calculator does all of this instantly, but knowing the order of operations tells you what to check when a number looks wrong.

  1. Enter the date of birth

Type the full date including the year. Four-digit years remove any ambiguity: 26 could mean 1926 or 2026, and on this page it matters by a century.

  2. Add the time of birth if you know it

This field is optional. Filling it in makes the hours, minutes and seconds totals exact rather than counted from midnight, and it can shift the day count by one.

  3. Set the date to measure the age at

It defaults to today. Change it to a future date to see how old you will be then, or to a past date to work out how old someone was at a particular event.

  4. Read the breakdown and the milestones

The main figure is years, months and days. Below it you get total months, weeks, days, hours and minutes, and a milestones panel with your birth weekday and your next birthday.

What the milestones box shows

The weekday you were born, the date of your next birthday, how many days away it is, the age you will turn, your total seconds alive, and an approximate lifetime heartbeat count at a resting rate of 70 beats per minute.

Ages in the future

Set the "age at" date to a wedding, a retirement date or a school entry cut-off and the calculator answers directly. To count down to that date in live hours and minutes instead, use the Countdown Timer.

Ages in the past

Put a historical date in the "age at" field to answer questions like how old someone was on a given day. The result is the same subtraction, just anchored somewhere other than today.

The algorithm

How age is actually computed

Almost every English-speaking country uses the same convention: you are a given age from your birthday until the day before your next one. The arithmetic that produces it is a three-column subtraction with borrowing.

Write the "age at" date above the date of birth and line up the years, months and days in three columns. Subtract column by column, right to left. If the days column goes negative, borrow one month from the months column and add the length of the month immediately before the "age at" date. If the months column then goes negative, borrow one year and add twelve.

d = day(at) − day(birth) m = month(at) − month(birth) y = year(at) − year(birth) if d < 0: d = d + days_in(month before the "age at" date); m = m − 1 if m < 0: m = m + 12; y = y − 1

The detail that trips people up is which month you borrow from. It is the month immediately preceding the "age at" date, not the birth month. Take someone born on 30 March 1985, measured on 24 July 2026. The days column gives 24 minus 30, which is minus 6. The month before July 2026 is June, which has 30 days, so the days become 24 and the months drop from 4 to 3. The answer is 41 years, 3 months and 24 days.

You can prove that is right by adding it back. Start at 30 March 1985, add 41 years to reach 30 March 2026, add 3 months to reach 30 June 2026, then add 24 days to reach 24 July 2026. It lands exactly. If you had borrowed 31 days from March instead, you would get 25 days, and adding that back would overshoot to 25 July. That single choice is one of the reasons two calculators can differ by a day.

The borrow, when the birth day-of-month is later than today's

Column subtraction showing a borrow from the months column into the days column Subtracting 30 March 1985 from 24 July 2026 gives 41 years, 4 months and minus 6 days. Borrowing one month, which is the 30 days of June 2026, turns the days into 24 and reduces the months to 3, giving a final age of 41 years, 3 months and 24 days. YEARS MONTHS DAYS Age at date 24 July 2026 2026724 Date of birth 30 March 1985 1985330 Raw subtraction 414 −6 below zero Days went negative, so borrow 1 month. June 2026 (the month before the age-at date) has 30 days. −6 + 30 Final age 41 y 3 m 24 d = 41324 Check: 30 Mar 1985 + 41 y = 30 Mar 2026, + 3 m = 30 Jun 2026, + 24 d = 24 Jul 2026
Borrow from the month before the target date, not from the birth month. June 2026 supplies 30 days, so the minus 6 becomes 24 and the months fall from 4 to 3. Borrowing March's 31 days instead would give 25 days, and adding that back would land on 25 July rather than 24 July.

Why the calculator works in days underneath

Behind the scenes it is usually easier to convert both dates to a serial day number, subtract to get the total days, and then peel off years and months from that. This is the same trick the Time Calculator uses when it converts clock times to seconds since midnight before adding them. Working in a single flat unit removes every carry and borrow, and you only convert back at the very end.

Total days is also the number that feeds every other output. Total hours is days times 24, total minutes is days times 1,440, total seconds is days times 86,400. If you have a raw seconds figure and want it in friendlier units, the Seconds to Minutes converter does that single step. For a gap you want expressed purely as a duration in hours and minutes, the Time Duration Calculator is the right tool.

The naive borrow can still go negative. Someone born on 31 January 2000, measured on 1 March 2026, gives a days column of 1 minus 31, or minus 30. Borrowing February's 28 days leaves minus 2, which is still negative. A robust implementation does not borrow twice; it counts whole elapsed months first, clamps the anniversary day to the length of the landing month, and measures the leftover days from there. That gives 26 years, 1 month and 1 day, which adds back correctly to 1 March 2026.

Method comparison

Why two age calculators give different answers

None of these methods is wrong. They answer slightly different questions, and the differences only become visible at the edges of months and at the end of February.

If you have ever entered the same birth date into two tools and got two answers, one of the following is almost certainly the cause. The years figure is very rarely in dispute; it is the months and days that move.

This calculator uses Method A on the first row, complete-months-first on the second, and reports both leap-day conventions side by side. It treats the birth date as a local calendar date, exactly as written on a birth certificate, and does not convert time zones.

The one rule everyone agrees on

Under the Western convention your age increases by one on your birthday and stays there for the rest of the year. You are 35 right up to the last second of the day before your 36th birthday. This is worth stating because it differs from how we count almost everything else: a baby is in its first year of life while its age reads zero, which is the same reason a building's first floor is the ground floor in some countries and not in others.

There is a historical footnote here. In several common law jurisdictions the old rule was that a person attained an age at the first moment of the day before the anniversary, on the theory that any part of a day counted as a whole day. Modern statutes in those places generally moved the moment to the start of the birthday itself. The practical effect is confined to people born on the first day of a month who need to prove an age on the last day of the previous month, but it does explain some otherwise baffling old records.

Ambiguity

Why "how many months old" has no single answer

Ask for an age in years and everybody means the same thing. Ask for it in months and you get at least four different numbers, all arithmetically correct.

Take the person born on 15 June 1990 again, measured on 24 July 2026. They have lived 13,188 days. Here is what "months old" can mean:

  • 433 complete months, plus 9 days. Count calendar anniversaries of the 15th. This is the answer a paediatrician or a nursery wants, and it is what the calculator above reports.
  • 433.28 months. Divide 13,188 days by 30.4375, the average month length in the Gregorian calendar (365.2425 divided by 12). Spreadsheets often land here.
  • 439.60 months. Divide by a flat 30 days. Common in quick mental estimates and in some billing systems, and it drifts high by more than one percent.
  • 433.29 months. Convert to decimal years first (13,188 divided by 365.2425 = 36.11) and multiply by 12. Close to the average-month answer but not identical.

complete months = 36 years × 12 + 1 month = 433, remainder 9 days average months = 13,188 ÷ 30.4375 = 433.28 30-day months = 13,188 ÷ 30 = 439.60 via years = (13,188 ÷ 365.2425) × 12 = 433.29

The spread between the highest and lowest of those is more than six months, which is enormous when the subject is a two-year-old. If you are filling in a form that asks for age in months, use the complete-months figure and say so. If you are comparing against a growth chart or a developmental milestone table, complete months is almost always what is intended.

The same ambiguity shows up in weeks, but far more mildly, because a week is always exactly seven days. Total weeks is just total days divided by seven, and any remainder is a plain number of days. Our example lands on 1,884 weeks with no remainder, because 13,188 is exactly divisible by 7. That is why the person was born on a Friday and is being measured on a Friday.

When to use complete months

Infant and child development, vaccination schedules, school entry cut-offs, tenancy and warranty periods, and any form that gives you separate boxes for years and months. Anything anchored to a calendar anniversary.

When to use decimal months

Statistics, averages across a group, and any calculation where you need to divide or take a mean. Decimal ages behave properly under arithmetic; year-month-day triples do not.

To convert any of the hour figures into a working total, the Hours Calculator handles the arithmetic.

29 February

Leap-day birthdays and how they are handled

Only 97 of the 146,097 days in a full 400-year Gregorian cycle are a 29 February, which is roughly one day in 1,506. If you were born on one, three out of every four years give you no anniversary at all.

People born on 29 February are sometimes called leaplings. Their age in whole years is never in doubt: someone born on 29 February 2004 is 22 years old in July 2026, and 8,181 days old, and nobody disputes either figure. The question is only when during a common year they cross from 21 to 22, and calendars, software and legislatures do not all answer it the same way.

How a 29 February birthday is treated in a common yearFour conventions, and what each one does
ConventionBirthday falls onReasoningWhere you meet it
Clamp to the last day of February 28 February The anniversary stays in the same month, and the person completes a full year on the last day February has to offer. Several jurisdictions settle this in statute and choose 28 February. Many date libraries clamp this way by default.
Roll forward to the next day 1 March A full year is only complete once the calendar has passed the equivalent point, and 29 February follows 28 February. Other jurisdictions legislate 1 March. Some spreadsheet functions overflow this way.
Celebrate on both 28 Feb and 1 Mar No arithmetic involved. Purely social, and by far the most popular solution in practice. Families, birthday cards, restaurant bookings.
Wait for the real date 29 February only Anniversaries are counted strictly, so there is one every four years. A running joke rather than a system. A leapling born in 2004 has had five real birthdays by 2026.

The conventions in the first two rows are both legislated somewhere, and they are not the same everywhere, so a leapling can legally reach an age on different dates in different countries. Anything with a deadline attached, such as a licence, a pension or an age-restricted purchase, is worth checking against local rules rather than assuming.

The next leap day is 29 February 2028. There was no 29 February in 2025, 2026 or 2027. A leapling born in 2004 has had real birthdays in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024 only, so five in twenty-two years. Their next one, on 29 February 2028, is the day they turn 24.

Which years are leap years

A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except that years divisible by 100 are not, unless they are also divisible by 400. That is why 1900 was a common year and 2000 was a leap year. The rule exists because the Earth takes about 365.2422 days to orbit the Sun, and the Gregorian scheme approximates that with 365.2425, leaving an error of roughly one day every 3,200 years.

leap = (year mod 4 = 0) and (year mod 100 ≠ 0 or year mod 400 = 0) 1900 → divisible by 100, not by 400 → common year, 365 days 2000 → divisible by 400 → leap year, 366 days 2100 → divisible by 100, not by 400 → common year, 365 days

Anyone alive today whose age spans the year 2000 gained a leap day that a person of the same age a century earlier did not. It changes nothing about the years figure, but it does shift the total days by one, which is exactly the kind of quiet off-by-one that makes two calculators disagree.

Around the world

Age reckoning is not universal

The birthday-increments convention is normal to most readers of this page, but it is not the only system in use, and it is not the oldest.

In the traditional East Asian system a person is counted as one year old at birth, and everyone gains a year together at the new year rather than on their own birthday. Nobody's individual birth date enters into it. The consequence is dramatic at the edges: a baby born on 31 December is two years old on 1 January, at one day of actual life. The gap between traditional and international age is therefore either one year or two, depending on whether the person's birthday has already passed in the current year.

Three ways to count the same person's ageBoth people measured on 24 July 2026
SystemRuleBorn 15 Jun 1990Born 31 Dec 1946
International age Starts at 0 at birth, increments on the birthday. 3679
Calendar-year age Current year minus birth year, ignoring the month and day. 3680
Traditional East Asian age Starts at 1 at birth, increments for everyone at the new year. 3781

Calendar-year age is the system behind school year groups and conscription cohorts in several countries: everyone born in the same calendar year is treated as the same age regardless of birth month. It is also why a December-born child and a January-born child in the same class can be almost a full year apart.

South Korea's change in 2023

South Korea used all three systems at once for decades: traditional age in everyday conversation, calendar-year age for things like alcohol and tobacco sales and military service, and international age in most legal documents. A person could reasonably describe themselves as three different ages in one afternoon. Legislation standardising on international age for administrative and judicial purposes took effect on 28 June 2023, which had the widely enjoyed side effect of making the entire country a year or two younger overnight on paper.

The change did not abolish the traditional count socially, and it did not remove calendar-year age from every context where it was already embedded. If you are converting a Korean document that predates mid-2023, check which system it was using before assuming the number matches an international age.

Elsewhere in the region

Japan moved to international age in law well over a century ago and reinforced it by statute in the mid-twentieth century. China uses international age officially, though the traditional count survives in conversation, particularly among older speakers and in rural areas.

Lunar and other calendars

Some families track a birthday against a lunar or lunisolar calendar, so the Gregorian date of the celebration moves each year. The international age in whole years still increments on the Gregorian anniversary of the actual birth date.

What this calculator reports

International age, because that is what forms, passports and medical records ask for almost everywhere. If you need the traditional figure, add one to the international age and add one more if the birthday has not yet passed this calendar year.

Infants

Chronological age and corrected age

For a baby born early, the calendar age and the developmental age are not the same number, and the difference matters for the first couple of years.

Chronological age is simply the time since birth. It is what every calculator on this page computes, and it is what goes on the birth certificate and every form thereafter. Corrected age, sometimes called adjusted age, is the chronological age minus the number of weeks the baby was born before term. A pregnancy is treated as 40 weeks for this purpose, so a baby born at 30 weeks was 10 weeks early, and its corrected age is always 10 weeks behind its chronological age.

weeks early = 40 − gestational age at birth (in weeks) corrected age = chronological age − weeks early born at 30 weeks, 132 days old (18 weeks 6 days) weeks early = 40 − 30 = 10 weeks = 70 days corrected age = 132 − 70 = 62 days = 8 weeks 6 days

The reason for the adjustment is straightforward. Development is broadly tied to the amount of time that has passed since conception rather than since delivery, so comparing a baby born ten weeks early against a milestone chart written for babies born at term will make it look behind when it is not. Health services generally use corrected age when discussing feeding, growth and developmental milestones, and generally use chronological age for things counted from the day of birth, such as vaccination schedules.

Corrected age is usually applied for the first two years or so, after which the gap becomes small enough relative to total age that it stops being useful. A ten-week difference is more than a third of a six-month-old's life; by the time the same child is five it is under four percent. This page is general information, not medical advice, and the exact policy on when to stop correcting varies between health systems and between clinicians.

Where chronological age is used

Legal documents, vaccination timing, school entry cut-offs, and anything with a date attached. It never changes and never needs adjusting.

Where corrected age is used

Growth charts, feeding guidance and developmental milestones during roughly the first two years for babies born preterm. Always ask which one a chart expects.

Thresholds

Ages that change something

Round numbers of years matter because rules attach to them. What follows is general information about ages that are commonly used as thresholds, not advice, and every one of them varies by country.

How days accumulate across a life

Timeline showing total days alive at nine notable ages from birth to eighty Total days alive rises linearly with age: 3,652 days at ten, 6,574 at eighteen, 7,670 at twenty-one, 10,957 at thirty, 14,610 at forty, 18,262 at fifty, 23,741 at sixty-five and 29,219 at eighty. Days accumulate perfectly evenly, which is why the line is straight. Turning 18 costs 6,574 days and turning 80 costs 29,219, so the second half of a long life is worth more days than the whole of childhood and early adulthood combined. The 10,000-day mark arrives at about 27 years and 4 months.

Ages, cut-off dates and the rules attached to them differ by country, by state or province, and often by the particular scheme. Check the rule that applies where you are.

Milestones measured in days rather than years

Because total days is a clean number, it makes for anniversaries that years cannot. The 10,000-day mark arrives at about 27 years and 4 months. One billion seconds is 11,574 days, or roughly 31 years and 8 months, and it lands on a precise moment rather than a date, which makes it a genuinely rare thing to celebrate. Someone born on 15 June 1990 passed their 10,000th day on 31 October 2017 and their billionth second in February 2022. Six age calculations, step by step

Every one is reproducible in the calculator above. The working is shown so you can check your own method against it.

The straightforward case No borrow

Born 15 June 1990. How old on 24 July 2026?

  1. Days: 24 minus 15 = 9. Positive, so no borrow is needed.
  2. Months: 7 minus 6 = 1. Positive, so no borrow is needed.
  3. Years: 2026 minus 1990 = 36.
  4. Total days between the two dates: 13,188.
  5. 13,188 ÷ 7 = 1,884 weeks exactly, which is why both dates are a Friday.
  6. 13,188 × 24 = 316,512 hours and 13,188 × 86,400 = 1,139,443,200 seconds.

= 36 years, 1 month, 9 days

When the days column goes negative Borrow

Born 30 March 1985. How old on 24 July 2026?

  1. Days: 24 minus 30 = minus 6. Negative, so borrow one month.
  2. The month before July 2026 is June, which has 30 days.
  3. Days become minus 6 plus 30 = 24, and the months drop by one.
  4. Months: 7 minus 3 = 4, minus the borrowed 1 = 3.
  5. Years: 2026 minus 1985 = 41.
  6. Check by adding back: 30 Mar 2026, then 30 Jun 2026, then 24 Jul 2026. Correct.

= 41 years, 3 months, 24 days (15,091 days)

A leap-day birthday 29 February

Born 29 February 2004. How old on 24 July 2026, and when is the next birthday?

  1. Days: 24 minus 29 = minus 5, so borrow June's 30 days to get 25.
  2. Months: 7 minus 2 = 5, minus the borrowed 1 = 4.
  3. Years: 2026 minus 2004 = 22.
  4. Total days alive: 8,181, which is 1,168 weeks and 5 days.
  5. 2027 is not a leap year, so the anniversary rolls to 1 March 2027, which is 220 days away and a Monday.
  6. The next real 29 February is in 2028, when they turn 24.

= 22 years, 4 months, 25 days

Counting down to a fiftieth Next birthday

Born 2 November 1976, a Tuesday. How long until the next birthday from 24 July 2026?

  1. This year's anniversary is 2 November 2026, which is still ahead of us.
  2. Days remaining in July: 31 minus 24 = 7.
  3. August 31, September 30, October 31 gives 92 more.
  4. Plus 2 days into November: 7 + 92 + 2 = 101 days.
  5. 2 November 2026 is a Monday, so the birthday moves from a Tuesday to a Monday.
  6. Current age on 24 July 2026 is 49 years, 8 months, 22 days.

101 days until turning 50

Three ages for one person Reckoning

Born 31 December 1946. What age is reported on 24 July 2026 under each system?

  1. International: the 2025 birthday has passed, the 2026 one has not, so 2025 minus 1946 = 79.
  2. The full breakdown is 79 years, 6 months, 23 days, or 29,060 days.
  3. Calendar-year age: 2026 minus 1946 = 80.
  4. Traditional East Asian: start at 1, add one for every new year since 1946, giving 2026 minus 1946 plus 1 = 81.
  5. The gap is two years because the person was born on the last day of a year.

Corrected age for a preterm baby Infant

Born 14 March 2026 at 30 weeks gestation. What are the two ages on 24 July 2026?

  1. Chronological age in days: 17 in March, 30, 31, 30 for April to June, and 24 in July.
  2. 17 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 24 = 132 days.
  3. 132 ÷ 7 = 18 weeks and 6 days chronological.
  4. Weeks early: 40 minus 30 = 10 weeks, which is 70 days.
  5. Corrected age: 132 minus 70 = 62 days.
  6. 62 ÷ 7 = 8 weeks and 6 days corrected.

Avoid these

Six mistakes that make an age wrong

Nearly every incorrect age traces back to one of these, and most of them are off by exactly one day or one year.

Common age calculation errorsWhat goes wrong, and the correction
MistakeWhat it looks likeThe fix
Subtracting the years only 2026 − 1990 = 36 always That is calendar-year age, not real age. If the birthday has not happened yet this year, subtract one. Born December 1990, in July 2026 you are 35.
Borrowing from the wrong month 41 y 3 m 25 d Borrow the length of the month before the target date, not the birth month. The answer is 41 y 3 m 24 d.
Multiplying years by 365 36 × 365 = 13,140 days Ignores leap days. The true figure for a person born 15 June 1990 is 13,188, a difference of 48 days.
Treating a month as 30 days 13,188 ÷ 30 = 439.6 months Use complete calendar months, which gives 433 months and 9 days. The flat-30 estimate is over six months high.
Ignoring the time of birth Hours totals off by up to 24 A date-only calculation counts from midnight. Enter the time of birth when you need hours, minutes or seconds to be exact.
Reading a two-digit year Born 26 → 1926 or 2026? Always enter four digits. A century of difference is the single largest error this page can help you avoid.

If the answer is wrong by exactly one year, the cause is nearly always the first row. If it is wrong by exactly one day, it is nearly always the second, the fifth, or a leap-day convention. For a plain gap between two dates with no year and month breakdown to argue about, the Date Calculator removes the ambiguity entirely.

Definitions

Age terms, defined

The vocabulary used on forms, in clinics and in software documentation, in plain language.

Chronological age
The time elapsed since the moment of birth, expressed in years, months and days. This is what almost every form, passport and record means by "age".
Corrected age
Chronological age minus the number of weeks a baby was born before 40 weeks of gestation. Used for growth and developmental comparisons in preterm infants, typically for the first two years.
International age
The convention in which a person is zero at birth and gains a year on each birthday. Used in law and administration almost everywhere, and the system this calculator reports.
Calendar-year age
The current year minus the birth year, ignoring the month and day. It is the basis for school year groups and conscription cohorts in several countries.
Traditional East Asian age
A system in which a person is counted as one year old at birth and everyone gains a year together at the new year. Produces a figure one or two years higher than international age.
Leapling
Informal term for a person born on 29 February. Their birthday exists in the calendar only once every four years, so common years require a convention of 28 February or 1 March.
Leap year
A year of 366 days, occurring when the year is divisible by 4, except centuries not divisible by 400. 1900 was a common year, 2000 was a leap year, and 2100 will be a common year.
Gregorian average year
365.2425 days, the mean year length produced by the Gregorian leap rule. Dividing by 12 gives an average month of 30.4375 days.
Complete months
The number of times the day-of-month anniversary has been reached, with any remainder shown separately as days. Distinct from a decimal month count.
Borrow
The step in column subtraction where a negative days figure is fixed by taking one month from the months column and adding that month's day count to the days.
Age of majority
The age at which a person is treated as an adult for general legal purposes, most commonly 18. Separate from ages set for specific activities such as driving or drinking.
Decimal age
Age expressed as a single number with a fractional part, such as 36.11 years. Used in statistics and clinical charts because it can be averaged and compared arithmetically.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Direct answers to the questions people ask most about this calculation.

How do I calculate my exact age?

Subtract your date of birth from today's date one column at a time: years, then months, then days. If the days figure goes negative, borrow one month and add the number of days in the month before today. If the months figure then goes negative, borrow one year and add twelve. Someone born on 15 June 1990 is 36 years, 1 month and 9 days old on 24 July 2026.

How old am I if I was born in 1990?

It depends on whether your birthday has already passed this year. On 24 July 2026, anyone born in 1990 on or before 24 July is 36, and anyone born later in 1990 is still 35. Subtracting 1990 from 2026 gives 36 for everybody, which is calendar-year age rather than real age, and it is wrong for roughly half the people born that year.

How many days old am I?

Multiply your age in years by 365.2425 for a close estimate, or use the calculator for the exact count. At 18 you have lived about 6,574 days, at 30 about 10,957, at 50 about 18,262 and at 80 about 29,219. Your real figure differs by a day or two depending on how many 29 Februaries have fallen inside your lifetime.

What day of the week was I born on?

The calculator reports it in the milestones panel. It is derived from the date itself, not from any lookup, so it is exact for any date in the Gregorian calendar. Weekdays repeat on a 400-year cycle of 146,097 days, which is exactly 20,871 weeks, so the same calendar date falls on the same weekday every 400 years.

How is age calculated for someone born on 29 February?

Their age in whole years is never in doubt. The only question is which day in a common year counts as the anniversary, and there are two conventions: clamp back to 28 February, or roll forward to 1 March. Different jurisdictions legislate different answers, so a leapling can legally reach an age on different dates in different countries. Socially, most people simply celebrate on both.

How many months old am I?

Use complete months: the number of times your day-of-month anniversary has been reached, with the leftover shown as days. A person born on 15 June 1990 is 433 months and 9 days old on 24 July 2026. Dividing total days by 30 instead gives 439.6, which is over six months too high, so always say which method you used.

What is the difference between Korean age and international age?

In the traditional East Asian system you are one year old at birth and everyone gains a year at the new year, so the figure runs one or two years ahead of international age depending on whether your birthday has passed. South Korea standardised on international age for administrative and judicial purposes on 28 June 2023, though the traditional count survives in conversation.

Why do two age calculators give me different answers?

Usually one of five reasons: which month the days column borrows from, whether whole months or whole days are counted first, how a 29 February anniversary is handled, whether the time of birth is included, and whether time zones are converted. The years figure is almost never in dispute. The differences show up in the months and days, and are typically one day.

What is corrected age for a premature baby?

Corrected age is the chronological age minus the number of weeks the baby was born before 40 weeks of gestation. A baby born at 30 weeks was 10 weeks early, so at 132 days old chronologically it has a corrected age of 62 days. It is generally used for growth and developmental comparisons in the first two years. This is general information, not medical advice.

How do I work out how old someone was on a past date?

Put the date of birth in the first field and the historical date in the age-at field. The arithmetic is identical to finding a current age; only the anchor moves. This is how you answer questions like how old a relative was in a photograph, or how old someone was when a document was signed.

How many seconds have I been alive?

Multiply your total days by 86,400. Someone who has lived 13,188 days has been alive for 1,139,443,200 seconds. The billion-second mark arrives at 11,574 days, which is roughly 31 years and 8 months. Because it is a precise moment rather than a date, it is one of the few anniversaries you can celebrate to the second.

Does the time of birth change my age?

It never changes your age in years, and it rarely changes the days figure. It matters for the hour, minute and second totals, which are counted from midnight if you leave the field blank. If you were born at 14:20, then between midnight and 14:20 on any given day you are a fraction of a day younger than a date-only calculation suggests.

At what age does someone legally become an adult?

Eighteen in most of the world, though several Canadian provinces and territories use 19 and a small number of countries use other ages. The age of majority is separate from ages set for particular activities such as driving, drinking, voting or holding a licence, which are often different numbers in the same country. Check the rule that applies where you are.

How many days until my next birthday?

Count the days remaining in the current month, add the full months in between, then add the day-of-month of your birthday. Someone born on 2 November has 101 days to wait on 24 July 2026: 7 days left in July, 92 across August, September and October, and 2 into November. The calculator does this and also reports the weekday.
